31 Days {Photos 26-31}

Welcome to my last few pictures of 31 days.

Just a few of my thoughts on 31 days first:
1. While I loved taking pictures everyday, it was really hard for me to post everyday.  Not sure if it was just the craziness of life or the particular month.
2. If I were to do a photo challenge again, I would definitely do one post every week instead of trying to do it daily.
3. If I do 31 days again, I need to pick a topic that I could potentially schedule posts a couple of days ahead of time.
4. I will be doing something a little special with these photos.  Not sure what yet, but thinking maybe a little mini album would be nice.
5. Love that I got something else checked off on my 32 list.

31 Days {Photo 20-25}

I'm playing catch up today with my posting which seems to be the story of my life along with the rest of the world.  As I have said before, the picture part of this project not hard the posting everyday really hard.  But, I am loving this project and will probably try to do something like this again.

Photo 20 {Favorite color}

My favorite color is purple.  You would think this would be easy to take a picture of but it is actually kind of hard.  I don't have as much purple as I use to in my home.  My husband got a little tired of it, so we went a little different direction this time around.  The morning I was trying to decide what to take a picture of for this day, I was reading some of the bloggers doing 31 Days.  One that I am really loving because it is right up my interior design background is over at the Story of Home.  She is doing a 31 Day series on color which is also right up my ally.  She did a post on personality color that included a quiz to see what yours would be.  I laughed out loud when mine came back lavender personality. I guess it is my favorite color for a reason.

Photo 21 {Project in Progress}

Around here I have been working on Jaleesa's Halloween costume.  She is going to be an owl for Halloween. I found this really cute costume idea for her on The Mom Creative.  I loved it so much, so I used it as a jumping off point.

Photo 22 {A collection}

This is an easy one.  I have several different collections of things.  But, I am feeling very sentimental lately.  My grandmother gave me this set of dishes called tiara sandwich glass.  She use to sell it and this was her set.  It is really not my style at all but for some reason I love it and keep buying more when I see it in antique shops.  

Photo 23 {Self Portrait}

I've been playing around with my sister's old 35mm camera lately while I am saving for a new DSLR.  Just to get the feel for holding a camera, changing settings and so on.  I thought it would be fun to take a picture of me taking pictures.  I set my self-timer on my point and shoot to take a few shots at one time.

Photo 24 {Coffee}

This is an easy photo for me since I drink at minimum one cup per morning.  I love everything about coffee, the smell, the taste, the color, the warmth.

Photo 25 {Water}

I took a picture of the water filling up the washing machine.  This is a daily occurrence in my house with two active kids.  I forgot how many outfits a baby goes through.  

I will be posting with the rest of my pictures tomorrow if we don't lose our power from hurricane Sandy.

31 Days {Photo 18 & 19}

Well, here we are more than half way through the month.  While I am still loving this project, I'm also understanding that it is hard to keep up with at times.  I have been posting a second picture each day on instagram (#31daysjb)and find that a lot easier to do each day than post here.  I'm finding that posting here every couple of days is far easier and I'm ok with that.  The point was to complete the photo challenge and I'm on track with doing that.

Day 18 {Evening Routine}
What evening routine isn't complete without doing dishes?  This is a normal every evening routine in our house, especially washing bottles.

Day 19 {Letters}
Picked up this dream sign at Goodwill for $2.00.  Can't wait to clean it up, repaint it and hang it in my girls room.  I think it is going to be awesome!

31 Days {Photo 16-17}

Welcome to day 16 and 17 of 31 days.  I'm posting two days together.  I'm slowly starting to feel better from my surgery and starting to take a little less medication.  I also finally got to cuddle with my baby some yesterday, which really just made my day.  Until yesterday my stomach still hurt so bad that I could only do that half cuddle.  I still have to be careful because she can't sit right on my incisions, but we are getting there.

So, here we go.

These are a few of the blankets that my mom makes for my girls.  As some of them wear out she makes new ones to replace them.  Both of my girls have been sleeping with these since we came home from the hospital.  Love and Cherish each one.

This is always an easy one to take.  This is us right now.  Daddy holding both girls since I can't right now.  But, still smiles and fun to be had.

31 Days {Photos 12-15}

First of all let me take a moment to apologize for not being around the last few days to stay current with 31 Days.  I didn't plan ahead very well.  I had my gallbladder out on Thursday and let me tell you it took me out for the count so much more than I was expecting.  So, here I sit on day 15 deciding to play catch up.  I should have planned posts ahead of time, but since I'm taking these pictures each day I didn't do that.

So, we go a day of catch-up for 31 Days...

Photo 12 {Light}
This little light makes me smile when I walk into Jalyn's room.  No joke it as been in her room since she was born and I have only put a lampshade on it with in the last month.  First, I couldn't find one that I liked and then I would forget to look and then randomly my mom and I walked down the lamp aisle at Target the other week and it jumped in my cart.  Still not exactly what I was wanting, but Jalyn loves it and I guess that is all the matters right now.

I find it funny that Jaleesa happened to have this outfit on Saturday.  I didn't dress her that day since I couldn't pick her up.  I just think this onesie is so cute.  I am always buying the outfits for girls that aren't your traditional pink colors.  Don't get me wrong we have a ton of pink and purple in this house with two girls, but I find myself justifying buying new outfits when they are not your traditional girl colors.  And who could pass up this outfit that screams her love for her momma.

This is Jaleesa's car seat/stroller combo.  It is her main form of transportation lately.  Since I can't get out of the house right now, I have to be a little bit more creative with these pictures.

Photo 15{Black and White}
I actually took this picture a couple of weeks ago with my hubby.  I'm using it for today since he isn't at home to take a new one with me and I'm not really in the picture taking mood.  He thought it was funny that I wanted to use a picture of the two of us to represent black and white.  Our little humor about our relationship.  True story...One time a coworker met John for the first time.  After he left, they said he's black.   I said yes and walked away.  I really wanted to say...He is? Thanks for clearing that one up I didn't know.  Gotta love people, I could write a book for real!

31 Days {Photo 11}

Welcome to day 11 of 31 days.  Today's picture what's in my bag.  I decided to just dump my purse out and take a picture.  The sad part about this picture is there really isn't that much in my purse today.  I usually have twice as much in there.

I think I will have to make a mini album or something with all of these pictures.  I am enjoying the randomness of the journey though.

31 Days {Photo 10}

Welcome to Day 10 of 31 days.  Today's photo is laundry.  This was an easy picture to take since I usually have piles of laundry everywhere.  I use to find it hard to keep up with the laundry each week, but now that we have a new baby I find it near impossible.  I also feel like our laundry is everywhere, partly because we don't have a true laundry room I like to believe.  This picture is all the clothes piled up on our bed.  My husband and I thought it would be a good idea to reorganize our closet.  We took everything completely out of it, went through all our clothes, got rid of things and then folded everything back up really nicely.  We will see how long it all lasts.

Welcome to Day 9 of 31 Days. Today's photo is hands.  This has to be my favorite day so far.  I couldn't select just one photo today it just doesn't work.

Welcome to Day 7 of 31 days.  Today's photo prompt is pumpkins.  I love the color of pumpkins, always have.  I'm not really big into carving them up, but I love the look of them sitting around this time of year.  These pictures were from our local pumpkin patch that we stopped by to bring home some pumpkins of our own.

31 Days {Photo 6}

I am going to post twice today to make up for missing yesterday's picture.  Things have been a little crazy around these parts recently.  Photo 6 was leaves.  Around here the leaves are changing and I'm in love with it.  I love these cooler temperatures.  Fall is my favorite time of year.

31 Days {Photo 5}

Welcome to Day 5 of 31 days!  Today is denim day.  A couple of the items on my list have been really intentional on what day they fall on the list because of certain things that are going on with us as a family this month. This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  October 1st is National Denim day. Something that was started by Lee jeans.  It is in support of the American Cancer Society's mission to have more birthdays.  However, we are celebrating today at work and turning this into an event in our house.  We are all wearing jeans today, including my 4 month old!  Unfortunately in our lives, cancer has hit our family in more than one person.  Giving towards this great cause means a lot to us.  I have some fun crafty things to do with Jalyn this weekend involving Jeans in another way to honor this great day.

31 Days {Photo 4}

Welcome to Day 4 of 31 days!  I have to say that even though I'm only at day 4, I am really loving this project.  I am also enjoying several of the 31 dayers blogs.  I have to say I wish I had time to go through more of them.  However, with over a 1000 to select from there is no way I could read everyone's   I'm also really loving the Nester's blog series for this.  She is really making me stop to think.

Ok, today's picture shoes or feet.  I did a little of both I guess. These are my favorite shoes right now for so many reasons.  Here is my little list:

1. They are cute.
2. They are comfortable.
3. Excited that I can go back to wearing heels a little bit.
4. They are sandals and I hate my feet enclosed.  And my days are numbered that I can wear sandals because the cold is coming!  The ONLY thing I hate about winter time is that my feet have to be enclosed.
5. They were an awesome deal.  Originally, $65 and I scored them for $15! Can't beat that.

31 Days {Photo 3}

Welcome to Day 3 of 31 days of everyday photos.  Thank you for stopping by my blog today.  I also wanted to share that I am posting on instagram a different picture to go along with the theme each day also.  It will be a random different times throughout the day.  You can follow me @jlfbarnes or check out #31days to see everything.

Today on my list is sign. I decided to take a picture of the exit sign for a couple of reasons.  One it is something we pass everyday and don't always give it to much thought.  And the point of this project is to take the everyday photo.

I also wanted to take this picture because Jalyn's new obsession is asking me what signs say.  Last week this sign was her question of the day.  When I told her it said exit, that led to a whole series of questions.  The conversation went a little something like this:
J: Mommy what does that say? M: Exit
J: what? M: Exit
J: Exit?  M: Yes
J: What does exit mean? M: The sign is telling us where to leave the building.
J: What is building? M: A building is where we live.
J: Why is it telling us to leave?  M: The signs tell us where to go in the case of a fire.
J: When the alarms go off? M: Yes, baby.

Fast forward to a few days later...
As we are walking down the hallway to the garage.
J: Mommy that is an exit sign.  It tells us where to go in a fire.
M: Yes that is correct baby.  Good Job.
Jalyn had big smiles on her face.

Now, I don't know how my little 3 1/2 year old remembers stuff like that but she does.  She will probably tell me this again or maybe ask me to remind her again.  But, at any case I thought it was a good story to document and remember where she is at this point in her life.

Photo 2 {Morning Routine}

Hello and Welcome to Day 2 of 31 days of everyday photos. If you are looking for my project life post scroll down a little to the next post.  I have two today.

I want to say a massive THANK YOU to my friend Nicole for making me a new blog button!  It is 4x better than my sad original button.  I am linking up with The Nester again today.  You can check out all the 31 dayers here.  Trust me with 900 plus people linking up there is something for everyone.

Today I'm sharing a photo from my morning routine.  A glass of milk may seem like a weird picture to take as part of my morning routine.  However, this is the only thing that has been a consistent part of my morning routine.  I honestly don't remember not drinking a glass of milk every single morning no matter what.  And we are not talking about a little 8oz glass this is a little over 16oz glass.  It must be skim and it must be super cold.  To me there is nothing better.

What would be something in your morning routine that someone may not know about you or may be a little different?  I would love to hear from you.

Photo 1 {31 Days}

Photo 1 {Sky}- What I love about this photo is that the sky has been this blue for two days, but then at night it is pouring rain.  I'm sad that I have to be inside all day at work today.  I want to be outside enjoying the weather.  If only I had WiFi outside at work, then I could take my laptop outside, work and enjoy the weather.
