Kite Festival (March DITL 2013)

I can't believe we are already half way through April.  Sometimes I just don't know where the time goes.  I have several things I need to get up on the blog.  A couple weeks ago we went into the District for the Kite Festival.  It also happened to be the same day that I did Day in the Life with Ali Edwards.  I'm not going to give you all the detailed time today.  Just wanted to talk a little about our adventure.

We had so much fun that day!  The weather was fantastic and it was perfect kite flying day.  It was really busy on the Mall and we were so glad we had taken the metro in.  Plus, Jalyn was so excited to be on the 'train'.  She is an old pro at riding the metro. She likes to look at the map and see where we are going and everything.

Once we were down there we set up shop in a nice open empty area.  I was really surprised at how friendly everyone was that day.  Probably because it was the weekend and no one had to be somewhere by a certain time.  I packed us snacks and a picnic so that we wouldn't have to worry about finding food.

Jalyn was so excited to try her kite.  She didn't care about trying to see any of the competitions.  I have to say that teaching Jalyn and John how to fly a kite was one hilarious task.  John of course had way more patients with it than I did.  We got it up there for a few minutes but it came down pretty quickly.

There were lots of kites in the air.  It was fun to see all the different styles and shapes.  As you can see the skies were a gorgeous blue that day.

Jaleesa was more interested in chewing and shaking her toys.

We took a little break for lunch and Jalyn decided to lay back and enjoy the kites.

After lunch Jalyn and Daddy switched gears a little and played some soccer.  Yes, that is a pink soccer ball.  She picked it out all on her own.

Jaleesa and I hung out on the blanket together.  It isn't easy keeping that girl entertained.  She wants to move.

You know you have had an awesome day when you have two girls passed out in the backseat on the car ride home!

Not only was this my DITL for March.  It also crossed another item off of my 32 list.

Have a beautiful day! Smiles, Jessica

Day In the Life: February Edition

I'm playing along with Ali Edwards this year on Day in the Life every month.  For February I did it on the 27th.  I was having an interesting day at work and thought it would be fun to document a little bit of a non-traditional day at work.

My morning was pretty typical I didn't do a great job of documenting with pictures, just words.
6:30am up- Get the girls ready for school
8am leave for work and school.
8:15am drop girls off at school
8:45am arrive at work
9am- leave for a meeting in the District

10am On a tour of a job site for a customer we came across this great desk circa 1970's.  I wanted to take it home with me.  The best part is it was made in Indiana!

11:30am tour construction site- view from the 10th floor.  The glass wasn't in yet so it made for some great pictures of DC.
more of the construction site- it is fun to see projects in these stages- instead of only on paper all the time
noon- walking back to first meeting location- my steal toed shoes and hard hat.
12:30pm- Lunch with coworkers at the Daily Grind- tried New England clam chowder for the first time.  It was delicious.
we took time for a cup of coffee afterwards
the view out the window from our table
I have a slight obsession with taking pictures of lights-I'm convinced I could make this one
2:30pm-3:45pm back at the office for some more work
4:15pm Jalyn had a doctor's appointment
5:15pm Jaleesa fell asleep in her carseat on the way home.
6:15pm John and Jaleesa fell asleep on the couch together
7:30pm Jalyn was running and jumping onto her bean bag chair while holding her breath.  She was laughing and smiling.  It was a joy to watch.
7:45pm While Jalyn was in the bathtub Jaleesa and I played on the floor together.
 working on waving...
 8:15pm bath time for Jaleesa
8:30pm Jalyn out of the bath and time to comb her hair out.
8:45pm both girls in bed a little late, but that left some scrappy time for me.  Love!

10:30pm shower
11pm lights out

Day in the Life: January Edition

Just in case someone as missed me saying this before, I love just about everything Ali Edwards.  I think she has the greatest career ever.  She had another fantastic idea to do Day in the Life each month to add to her Project Life album.  I thought it was a great idea.  It will be interesting to see how each random day each month will be different and the same through out the year.  I am of course 'behind' on project life.  But, I have been rethinking a little bit about how I want to tackle project life, not sure where I'm going to go just yet with it.

Anyways, back on track.  These are the pictures and a few words from the day.  I will be linking up to her post for the month as well.  I'm not sure how I'm going to add it to my PL yet.  I will share that when I figure it out.
