{Blog Hop Goodness} December Daily Blog Hop

Hello Scrappy Friends!  Welcome our first Friday December Daily Blog Hop.  We are so excited to share with you are fun December Daily Projects this month.

If you came here from Angie's blog at Living a Crafty Life you are in the right place.  If you didn't come from Angie's blog you can start at the beginning of the hop here.  There is a list of the hop order at the bottom of this post if you loose your way.

I haven't fully gotten into my layouts yet.  So far this week I have been doing a lot of picture taking and documenting.  I thought I would talk a little bit about my plan for the month.  I have decided to do more of a hybrid album this year and I am really excited about it.  I think it is going to help me stay on top of everything more.  With that said, I am not going to stress about having something for every single day either.  We always have a lot of things jammed packed into this month and it will be a full album, I'm sure.  I'm looking forward to seeing how everything is going to unfold for me this month.

Here is my plan...

Like a lot of people I'm going to be to be using Simple Stories 6x8 Snap binder system.  I have this binder already to go with a few extra packages of page protectors in different configurations.

I have all my Christmas stuff in one area so I can pull and go.

I put together December 1st page, just so I could figure out a little of what I wanted to do.

This is a 6x8 page and will be on the back side of the title page.
These two pictures are 4x6 and will be on the opposite side.

Hope you like what I have done so far.  I'm looking forward to next week, when I will have more completed and printed.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Your next stop on the hop will be Crystal at Capture the Moment.

Also, you can link up your own projects below.  I would love to see how you are documenting the season.

{Thankful Goodness} 30 Thankful Days!

Happy November!  Today I'm starting a journey of 30 Thankful Days.  I do this just about every year in some form.  Three years I completed a mini album for my 30 days.  You can see that here.  The last two years I have just been posting to facebook everyday.  I decided this year it was high time I got back to making a mini for my 30 thankful days.

Cathy as created some great digi templates for this.  I think I'm going to do a little bit of a hybrid theme this year.  We will see how it goes.  My goal is to post every Friday with how far I am for the week.  We will see how that all goes. *smiles* We know how that goes with this busy time of year.

Ok, so here is my plan.  I have never done anything digi before.  However, I watched this video that Cathy did. I'm determined to figure it out.  I'm going to use her 4x6 template for my album.  I'm also going to print these sheets to keep with me to help document each day.

Thirty Days of Thankful Layered Templates No. 02

I'm also going to use the Basic Grey Persimmon Collection for accents and such.

BasicGrey - Persimmon Collection - 12 x 12 Collection Pack

We will see how it all turns out!  Wish me luck!

{Scrappy Goodness} Remember This

Hello and Welcome to a new challenge day over at the Memory Nest.  Today we have a sketch with a twist challenge.  The twist this week is to do a monochromatic layout.  I decided to go with oranges this week.
I had this great picture that my daughter took of herself when she was about 2 1/2 years old.  She thought it was so cool to use mommy's camera to take pictures.  I have some really funny ones that she has taken. I thought this one was really great because it showed her excitement and fantastic smile while she was trying to figure out the camera and take a picture of herself.
I took a lot of liberty with this sketch and twist.  I struggled with it at first because I had a lot of trouble getting past the snowflakes.  Once you get past the having to use snowflakes, it is a really great sketch to work with.  I rotated my layout 90 degree to fit the photo that I was using.
I kept it pretty clean and simple this week.  Let's take a look at my overall:

And a few close-ups...

Thanks for stopping by today.  Make sure you hope on over the Memory Nest blog to see what the other DT member's have in store for you today.  There is a lot of fabulous inspiration.

{Scrappy Goodness} Love This Man

Hello and Welcome.  Today I wanted to share with you a layout that did combining two challenges.  The first was to use a sketch from Sketch N Scrap.  Then Lisa at My Creative Endeavors added a twist to the challenge.  The two twists I used were to use two different alphas and a die cut paper.

The second challenge I did was at Scrap Our Stash.  There challenge is to do a layout about a guy and use five brads.

I will also be linking up to The Memory Nests Whimsical Wednesday.

It was fun to combine both challenges together.  I usually don't do that.  I usually only focus on one at a time.  I still need to add my journaling to the layout.  I have it all written out, but it is a little love letter to my husband that is very personal.  I decided to take the photos of the layout before I wrote in the journaling to keep this private. I used Pink Paislee's 365 degrees collection.  It has been in my stash for a couple years now.  It was one of those lines that you are scared to cut into because you are afraid of messing it up. It is a really great line to use for a masculine layout.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Hope you enjoyed the layout.

Day In the Life: February Edition

I'm playing along with Ali Edwards this year on Day in the Life every month.  For February I did it on the 27th.  I was having an interesting day at work and thought it would be fun to document a little bit of a non-traditional day at work.

My morning was pretty typical I didn't do a great job of documenting with pictures, just words.
6:30am up- Get the girls ready for school
8am leave for work and school.
8:15am drop girls off at school
8:45am arrive at work
9am- leave for a meeting in the District

10am On a tour of a job site for a customer we came across this great desk circa 1970's.  I wanted to take it home with me.  The best part is it was made in Indiana!

11:30am tour construction site- view from the 10th floor.  The glass wasn't in yet so it made for some great pictures of DC.
more of the construction site- it is fun to see projects in these stages- instead of only on paper all the time
noon- walking back to first meeting location- my steal toed shoes and hard hat.
12:30pm- Lunch with coworkers at the Daily Grind- tried New England clam chowder for the first time.  It was delicious.
we took time for a cup of coffee afterwards
the view out the window from our table
I have a slight obsession with taking pictures of lights-I'm convinced I could make this one
2:30pm-3:45pm back at the office for some more work
4:15pm Jalyn had a doctor's appointment
5:15pm Jaleesa fell asleep in her carseat on the way home.
6:15pm John and Jaleesa fell asleep on the couch together
7:30pm Jalyn was running and jumping onto her bean bag chair while holding her breath.  She was laughing and smiling.  It was a joy to watch.
7:45pm While Jalyn was in the bathtub Jaleesa and I played on the floor together.
 working on waving...
 8:15pm bath time for Jaleesa
8:30pm Jalyn out of the bath and time to comb her hair out.
8:45pm both girls in bed a little late, but that left some scrappy time for me.  Love!

Project Life {Week 28}

Welcome to another week of Project Life!  I have to say that I love this project.  I love telling these everyday stories that might otherwise have gone untold.  I love that some weeks are heavy on the stories, some are heavy on the pictures and some are a great combination of both.  I love that I can make it super simple or make it more scrappy.  I know that is a lot of love, but I really do LOVE this project.

This past weekend I managed to get nine weeks of photos trimmed, round the corners and put in my page protectors.  Hopefully, this week and coming weekend I will be able to knock out a few of the weeks of journaling.  I don't mind being behind a couple of weeks but I don't like being months behind.  So, yeah for making a huge stride in getting caught up.

On to this weeks spread.  This week is really heavy on the photos.  Not a whole lot of words.  I'm ok with that though.

Week 28 {July 16th-22nd, 2012}

31 Days {Photos 26-31}

Welcome to my last few pictures of 31 days.

Just a few of my thoughts on 31 days first:
1. While I loved taking pictures everyday, it was really hard for me to post everyday.  Not sure if it was just the craziness of life or the particular month.
2. If I were to do a photo challenge again, I would definitely do one post every week instead of trying to do it daily.
3. If I do 31 days again, I need to pick a topic that I could potentially schedule posts a couple of days ahead of time.
4. I will be doing something a little special with these photos.  Not sure what yet, but thinking maybe a little mini album would be nice.
5. Love that I got something else checked off on my 32 list.

Ok, on to the photos.
