{Blog Hop Goodness} December Daily Blog Hop 4

Hello and Welcome to another Friday December Daily Blog Hop.  I don't know about you but it has been one crazy month, but I have loved every moment of it.

First things first.  You should have come here from Angie's blog at Living a Crafty Life.  If you didn't come from Angie's blog you can start at the beginning of the hop here.  There is a list of the hop order at the bottom of this post if you loose your way.  And I am once again linking up to  Ali Edward's Blog to share in the fun with her.

This week I have a couple of things done.  I decided over the weekend to completely change the way I was tackling my book and do more of a fun holiday events book.  I think it fits my lifestyle so much better.  I'm hoping it will make more sense when I'm done with my book.  As I was working on my book one evening I started feeling overwhelmed by it.  Since that is clearly not the point, I decided to change direction.  I had remembered I read these posts last year and remember thinking what a great idea.  I went back and reread them and felt inspired to keep creating.

Here is the first spread I completed.  I have to add a journaling card to the upper right corner about this event.  Every year we go to a Holiday Boat Parade.  The owners of the boats light up their boats with Christmas lights.  There are always a few different things.  This year our favorite was the shark boat.
Jalyn's dance class had a parent preview day.  We got to go into the class room and see how they are progressing and what they are learning.  It was fun to see her little personality in the class.  I have to add the journaling to the lower left hand corner.
This picture is from Christmas Eve morning.  My girls decided they would like to get up at 6:30am.  We went downstairs and I turned a movie on the iPad for them to watch.  They cuddled up under the Christmas tree together and watched while I got some work done.  Love them together!

That is all for this week.  See you again next week.  Thank you for hopping along with us.  Your next stop on the hop will be Crystal at Capture the Moment.

Also, you can link up your own projects below.  I would love to see how you are documenting the season.

{Blog Hop Goodness} Dec Daily Blog Hop 3

Hello Scrappy Friends!  Happy Friday!! I don't know about you but I'm glad it is Friday!Welcome to the third week of our Friday December Daily Blog Hop.  We are so excited to share with you are fun December Daily Projects this month.

If you came here from Angie's blog at Living a Crafty Life you are in the right place.  If you didn't come from Angie's blog you can start at the beginning of the hop here.  There is a list of the hop order at the bottom of this post if you loose your way.  I'm also linking up to Ali Edward's Blog today to share in the fun with her.  I thought it only fitting since she is the mastermind behind December Daily!

I'm not going to pretend that I'm not really far behind.  However, at this point in my life I'm ok with that. :)  This week I got the cover for my book done and one of the inside divider pages.  I wanted to share both with you. I'm going to apologize right now for the pictures.  They are really dark.  I haven't been home during daylight hours at all this week. Then I got the bright idea to take the pictures under my tree for visual effect.  It didn't work very. But, this is what you are getting.

And because I feel like bragging, here are some pictures of what we did this weekend.  Have I mentioned I love living in the DC area!! And yes these will all end up in my book.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Your next stop on the hop will be Crystal at Capture the Moment.

Also, you can link up your own projects below.  I would love to see how you are documenting the season.

{Blog Hop Goodness} December Daily Blog Hop 2

Hello Scrappy Friends!  Welcome our first Friday December Daily Blog Hop.

Well, I feel like my pages are coming together slowly but surely.  I was determined to get the main date pages done for this weeks post.  I almost got there.  I have the date pages for Dec5th-11th done, which I decided was good!  If you missed last weeks post you can see it here.  I also started a hand page drawing layout of how I wanted each day to be, which I decided was a huge accomplishment as well.

On with my pages for this week...

As you can see, each main date page is a little different.  It just depended what I had for that day and what look I was going for with the spread.  My goal this weekend is to get everything printed and start getting them into the album.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Your next stop on the hop will be Crystal at Capture the Moment.

Also, you can link up your own projects below.  I would love to see how you are documenting the season.

Hello Scrappy Friends!  Welcome our first Friday December Daily Blog Hop.

I haven't fully gotten into my layouts yet.  So far this week I have been doing a lot of picture taking and documenting.  I thought I would talk a little bit about my plan for the month.  I have decided to do more of a hybrid album this year and I am really excited about it.  I think it is going to help me stay on top of everything more.  With that said, I am not going to stress about having something for every single day either.  We always have a lot of things jammed packed into this month and it will be a full album, I'm sure.  I'm looking forward to seeing how everything is going to unfold for me this month.

Here is my plan...
6a0120a6a1e222970c017c356a64bd970b-800wi

Like a lot of people I'm going to be to be using Simple Stories 6x8 Snap binder system.  I have this binder already to go with a few extra packages of page protectors in different configurations.

I have all my Christmas stuff in one area so I can pull and go.

I put together December 1st page, just so I could figure out a little of what I wanted to do.

This is a 6x8 page and will be on the back side of the title page.
These two pictures are 4x6 and will be on the opposite side.

Hope you like what I have done so far.  I'm looking forward to next week, when I will have more completed and printed.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Your next stop on the hop will be Crystal at Capture the Moment.

Also, you can link up your own projects below.  I would love to see how you are documenting the season.

OLW Blog Hop 2012 {August Prompt}

Nihao, Cupcake!

Hello and Welcome to this month's One Little Word Blog Hop.

Hopefully, you have come to me from Ruth at Everyday Life of a Suburban SAHM.  If you didn't and would like to start at the beginning go here or there is a complete listing at the end of this post.

Ok on with the hop! This blog hop is a collection of students that are currently taking Ali Edward's One Little Word class through Big Picture Classes.  Every month on the 1st of the month Marie at Nihao, Cupcake hosts a blog hop for the monthly project.  While this is my first month participating in the hop I have been following along every month and you are in store for some fabulous blogs.

While I am not doing a great job of completing my assignments, my one little word (mindful) as been staying with me this year a lot.  It was a word that chose me and I think was a much needed word for me to hold on too.  I will be sharing more of my album at a later date.  I am so determined to complete it this year, I made it part of my 32 during 32 list.  This month our assignment was to take a current picture of ourselves and add some simple words.  I love these quick and easy prompts that remind me to sit with my word and that I am enough.

Thank you for stopping by to see my project for the month.  I would love it if you looked around and started following me.  I love sharing my everyday life and crafty adventures with everyone.  I also hope to see you next month.

Next on the hop is Veronica at Prairie Girl who is guaranteed to have something amazing to show you.

Feel Love Blog Hop

Welcome to Feel the Love Blog Hop!  If you just stopped by my blog today, you can start at the beginning of the hop with Jamie at Glitter, Stamps and Paper, Oh my!

If you arrived here from Ellen at Card Monkey than you are in the right place!

I decided to do something simple this time.  I created an altered picture frame.  I have made quite a few of these in the past and I just love doing them. I was creating this for my husband, but I'm afraid I might have made it a little too girly.  I tend to have that problem.  LOL!  I started with a cheapy frame I bought at Michael's for a dollar.

Then I painted the edges and back with a chocolate brown paint.  I did two coats to get it to the color I wanted.  I don't take the time to paint the front because I will end up covering it with paper anyways.

From there I covered the front with a chocolate brown stripped pattern paper.  Then I used an exacto knife to cut out the opening.  It didn't turn out very clean so I have a plan for that later.

For there I punched out hearts from four different patterned papers.  I covered the whole picture frame with the hearts.  I then put a thick layer of gloss mod podge over all the hearts.  From there I added glitter around the outside of heart shaped picture opening.  Then I emblished it a little.  I haven't chosen a picture for it yet, but I will later.

Thanks for looking!  Hope you enjoyed my little project.  Now it is time to hop on over to Casey at Simple Joy Crafting.  She is sure to have something fantastic waiting for you.

I Have a Dream Blog Hop

Welcome to the 'I Have a Dream' Blog Hop!  If you have arrived here from Col at Col's Creative Corner you are at the right stop along this hop.  If you just happened along my blog today you can start at the beginning of this awesome hop by starting at the beginning with Karelj

Karelj at One By One The Flamingos Are Stealing My Sanity is hosting another amazing blog hop this month in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  The main blog candy giveaway is the Dreams Come True Cricut Cartridge.  The donation was made by an anonymous donor.  In order to be eligible you must leave a comment on each stop along the hop.  Be sure to include a way for Karelj to contact you.  Karelj will be selecting a winner with random.org on the 18th on her blog.

Ok, now on to my little project- Dreaming of a Better World.

Since next month is also Black History Month, I decided to do a little mini album for not only Dr King but other important Black Americans.  My intent is for this to be sort of a learning tool for my daughter when she gets a little older.  My thinking right now is that she will start with these ten people, has she learns about them and knows who they are then I can remove them and add ten new ones.  Then eventually, I will have a little library to rotate through so she can learn about black history as well as it will be fun and pretty.  *smile* Because let's face it I love when things are pretty.

This album is really easy to make and is a take on using the folding methods for file folder mini albums. For this project I used CTMH Simple Pleasures paper packet.  I started with a 12x12 double sided pattern paper and cut it down to 9x12.  Keeping the 9" side has your vertical, I folded the bottom up three inches.  This started the beginning of my little pockets on the inside.  From there I fold, the whole thing in half creating a 6x6 then fold each side back in half again creating a finished product of 6x3.

On the inside I created ten little tags to go inside of each pocket.  I created four that were 4"x2.5" and four that were 5"x2.75".  Then on each tag I added the picture of my individual on the front side.  Then on the back side I added their name, birth/death date and a small blurb about what importance they had to black history.  From there, I did some simple embellishments.

For those of you that are curious the ten people that I made cards for were: Dr. King, Rosa Parks, Thurgood Marshall, Frederick Douglass, Mae Jemison (one of my favorite women!), Bessie Coleman, Shirley Chisholm, and Langston Hughes.

Hope you enjoyed my little project.  Next hop on over to Krista and Kori at 2 Crafty Chics. They are sure to have something fun for you!
