Our baby is already two weeks old!

I can’t believe that Jalyn is already two weeks old! It has been a whirlwind two weeks. I have a list of things I feel like I need to do, however none of them seem to really matter all that much. So, one of these days soon I will get those thank you cards out, go to the grocery store, buy a rocking chair of some sort, send out announcements, finish Jalyn’s room, get on top of my scrapbooking group responsibilities, return phone calls, visit more people so they can meet Jalyn, and get started on my drawings for work so I can make some money. Right now I am enjoying my time with John and Jalyn at home. However, we have been busy these past two weeks.

In the past two weeks, we had our first outing (Babies R Us and Olive Garden), first home bath, first doctor's visit, first walk to the park, visits to see "Aunt” Amanda and “Uncle” Paul (Jalyn's suedo Aunt and Uncle), John's basketball players and John's coworkers. There are so many more people to see, but I couldn't handle anymore outings these two weeks. I just wanted to stay home and rest. I just had a baby for crying out loud. :)

My parents were here last week and it was so great. My mom helped me get my laundry caught up, including Jalyn's clothes. Plus, she made breakfast and dinner for us everyday. She really spoiled us! During their visit, our soft water system decided it would be a good time to break. I am glad my dad was here to help me fix the issue. I would have cried if I had to figure it out myself.

While they were here, we took Jalyn on her first outing out of the house. We went to Babies R Us to pick up a few things. When we were there my dad was trying to convince me that my daughter needed a life size Winnie the Pooh. I was able to talk him out of it but he still bought her a mini size one; which is actually the same size as her. Then we went to eat dinner. She did so great! Everyone wanted to see her and couldn’t believe how small she was.

On Monday, we went to the doctor for the first time. Jalyn was born at 5lbs 13oz. When we took her home, she was 5lbs 10oz. At her check up she was 8lbs 5oz. The doctor was so please with her weight gain. With her being a preterm baby, that is something they worry about. All her vital signs were great. She is a little jaundice; however we just take her on walks outside in the sun or lay her in front of windows. It seems to be helping a lot. She is also now 20.5inches long. I know it is good for her to grow, however I wasn't expecting it to happen so fast!

Everything is going well so far! Jalyn loves to cuddle and we are more than happy to do that with her. The doctor and nurses in the hospital kept saying she was stubborn and asking who she gets that from? My finger of course pointed fast at John. Some other little tidbits… She hates her arms covered up and being swaddled. The majority of the time she kicks all her covers off when she sleeps. She starts crying when you lay her on her back. She would much rather sleep on her stomach with her legs curled up under her and her arms up next to her head. It is so cute. She is sleeping for about 2-3hours at a time and then feeding for about 20 minutes.

This week we are looking forward to my sister coming. I can’t wait to have some sister time and for her to meet Jalyn. She may have a hard exterior but I know Joni will melt when she sees her, just like everyone else has.

Below are a few new pictures. Hope you enjoy! I will try to stay on top of updates the best I can!
