I know it has been little bit since my last post. I am really sorry about that! I have had one busy October. I have been working on this post the past couple of weeks as well.
Last year at Thanksgiving time, I joined the several thousand people on Facebook with posting something that I was thankful for everyday. I couple of months later I was kicking myself for not writing them down, in order to scrap the great list. The thing I loved the most about the process was it made me appreciate something about everyday big or small. I would get excited to find that positive thing in my day that rose above all the rest. Some days were harder than others and some days I could have given you twenty things. I knew this year I wanted to take it a step further, I just wasn't sure how.
Last year, I came across Ali Edwards blog around October. She was beginning to post for her December Daily. I wasn't at a point in my life where I could participate in it, but knew that I wanted to do it the next year.
This year when it started I knew I wanted to participate. While I was thinking about how I was going to set up my DD, I was also thinking I wanted to do the Facebook thing again this year. Then my ideas started connecting together (don't you just love when that happens) and I decided to do a DD type album for November. I thought the focus could be to chronicle my item I'm thankful for each day for the 30 days of November.
I have had this line of Basic Grey for over a year, but wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. I just knew when I saw it at the store I had to have it. When I saw it in my stash, I knew it would be perfect for this. I just love the fall colors of orange and red. (Side note: I did see part of this line at Michael's last weekend.)
I decided to do a horizontal 6x8 mini album for this. Since most of my pictures I take are horizontal, I thought this would work the best. I don't generally print to many pictures at home, so most of my pictures start out 4x6. To make it the simplest I could I thought, I could just print the picture for the day and attach. That way I don't always have to do a lot of trimming if I don't want.
I started with cutting down old cereal boxes and whatever else comes in a box to attach my paper to. I wanted them to be a little sturdier than just to patterned papers/cardstock back to back. I know over the years this will be something that we flip through a lot, so I wanted to make sure it would hold up.
Once I got all the boxes and paper cut down to size, I started assembling everything. So far I have only completed the base pages. As I started to do more, I decided to hold off a little because I wasn't sure where my journey would take me.
Here are pictures of the cover page and the 1st base page. Right now I'm thinking that in the little pocket on each page will be the thing I'm thankful for each day, along with a story if need be to explain a little more. To the right of the pocket will be a picture, clipping, something I want to save, etc.
Right now, I'm thinking this will spend Sunday afternoons assembling and embellishing the week before. We will see how that goes with my life right now. *smiles* I will be posting along the way, so you can see how everything turns out. Check back to enjoy the process with me.
And a special thanks to Ali for all the inspiration!
