Great friends, great food, great fun!

We spent two fantastic weekends in a row with our great friends Reed and Kyra! Kyra and I originally met in Arizona when we worked at Goodmans together. We became fast friends. Luckily, John and Reed did also. Of course, that isn’t hard when you have a love for football and Xbox the way they do.


Our first outing together we went to Georgetown. John and I had never been (which you will see becomes a common theme for us in our travels), so we were up for exploring. We started the day with brunch at Sequoia.

The restaurant was located right on the Potomac River. The food was awesome and the view was great. Afterwards, we walked up M street in Georgetown, there is tons of shopping and restaurants down the whole street. While there, we made our first trip to Georgetown Cupcakes to get dessert. They have a show on TLC called DC cupcakes. There was a huge line but it was well worth the wait! The cupcakes were scrumptious! I see many trips in our future. We were also big tourists and took pictures while there.

The following weekend we went to Old Town Alexandria.  I think it may quickly become my favorite area. It has the cutest little shops and a great farmer’s market in the town square. Walking around the town, we stumbled across the Carlyle House. It was interesting to walk through the house and learn a little bit about the history of Alexandria. John and I love doing that kind of stuff and lucky for us Kyra and Reed do too.

After all that knowledge was loaded into our heads we were starving. It was hard to pick a place to eat there is a restaurant about every four steps in Alexandria. We finally settled on this little Irish pub. The food was fantastic. After eating, we went to the Diary Godmother for frozen custard. Besides having great frozen custard, the Dairy Godmother was cool because President Obama has been at the same place to have dessert. Check out the article and pictures here. The chair he sat in was painted on there President Obama sat here. It was fun to think that you were eating at the same place the President had before. Jay was getting a little cranky so we didn’t wait around for our turn to take pictures in the chair. I guess that will have to happen on another trip.
